Not lost, just undiscovered.

There comes a time in your life when you often don't feel good enough, that your opinions aren't worthy of being heard, and when you wonder, why your friends even allow themselves to be associated with you.Quite often, I still feel like a teenager trapped in an adult's body, like at 22, I'm not old enough for bills and having to buy my own shampoo, I often wonder if that feeling ever goes away. Personally at 70 I think i'm still going to be watching re-runs of The Inbetweeners, or thinking it's socially acceptable to be going into town for a 'few quiet ones' which inevitiably turn into going '; out, out'.

In Year 11,  my English teacher set us a challenge: we were to each write our name on the top of a piece of paper, and pass them round the class. Everyone was then meant to anonmously write a quality they admired or something they loved about that person down, and then pass the paper on to the next person, and so on and so forth. People in my class, who barely knew each other, all summoned up something incredible to say, something which could really lift a persons mood, and self esteem. And in a way, it was nicer to see what they had to say about me than my closest friends. The ones who didn't know me as well, wrote the things which really i cared about most, because it showed me how other people saw me. These are some of the things written on that piece of paper,

'Serious and opinionated, you stand up for what you believe in'
'Always helping me even when you don't realise it'
'Always listens to me whether you have time or not, someone who makes me feel wanted as a friend'
'very tough and independent'
'sweetheart, really caring'
'very funny- always sticks up for her friends, lovely'

Isn't that amazing?

Even better- they all came from people who I wasn't that close to, who weren't neccessarily in my circle of friends. Humbling doesn't even cover it.

Take a long hard look at yourself. You are so much better than you think you are. You are not inadequate. You are more than you even realise. The people in your life, who you love, are blessed to have you. Remember that.

'Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.' Coach Carter

Happy New Year.

For those that are still struggling, have a listen of this.

Open your eyes. Something beautiful is happening.

This was Our Song

As 2012 is steadily dawning on the edge of the oddly mild Decemeber which we've experienced, thoughts have turned to the fact a whole new year is approaching. It's suddenly struck me that 2011 will never again occur, it will fade into the history books as the year that Bin Laden was assasinated, that Kim Jong Il died, and that Fenton the deer chasing dog went viral on a little website called YouTube. A year seems like a lifetime but it's a grain of sand in the scheme of things. Everything and nothing can change at any given point. Where you started 2011 will not be where you ended it.

Resolutions are made every year without fail, by millions of people across the world, promises to join a gym, to find a sensible boyfriend and to save 20% of their wages each month. We make resolutions which we think will make us happier, and that that will make us better people. But why does that have to start on January 1st? Be honest, will cutting down chocolate, or buying fewer pairs of shoes really turn you into Ghandi? Instead, be the change you want to see in the world. Time waits for nobody
One of my closest and very talented friends wrote thisVicky at Bobby Six. It contains a review of 2011, in albulms, gigs and books. See whatcha think, and if you wish, mock her about dying her hair green.

So this my friends, is my own review of the year, combined with my Resolutions

2011 Accomplishments

1
. In March I became a Godmother to the most incredible little boy.

2. April saw my squad land 2nd at Cheerleading University Nationals and 1st Place in Level 3 in Cheerleading. It was my last year on a squad I'd been on for three years, and our first year as a Level 3 team. That weekend was one of my favourites of my whole time at uni, friendships were formed and strengthened and those girls were the best part of it.

3
. That combined with our 6 other trophies from 2010-2011 saw us be named as Club of the Year at the University Sports Awards, a massive deal for a sport which isn't considered to actually be a sport. Two fingers up the Netball squad also helped. hahaha

4
.I graduated uni in July with a First, and landed a first in my dissertation. 3 Years of work came out winning, and I managed to walk across the stage in a pair of ridiculous hees without stumbling.

5. In September I somehow got my ideal job, working in a school located in a deprived area of where I live, working with a child with various special needs. She is incredible, and my class of thirty, are so lovely, passionate and hilarious. I genuinely look forward to each day at school, they astound me.

Resolution 3

Be less quick to anger, and avoid/ignore those who are vexious to the soul.

Highlights of 2011

1.
Charlie Simpson
, Concorde 2 Brighton- In October I grabbed one of the most beautiful people ever, headed down to the front row of Concorde 2 and fangirled over who is in my opinion, a musician with one of the best albulms of 2011. Songs frequently used in Made in Chelsea, Charlie Simpson sounded better live, than on iTunes and in a venue as small as Concorde the fact he made it seem like Wembley was awesome. Helps he's easy on the eye too

apparently i was so close it was almost socially unacceptable...love this pic though.

2.Dance Rivals is a competition held at Uni which sees every sport team choreograph a 6 minute routine to a mashup of songs of their choice to their team's nominated theme. Our theme this year was 'Sleeps and Dreams' Which basically meant I got to dance some awesome choreo to tunes such as, 'Will you go to Bed with Me?' 'Insomia' and Wham!- Wake me up before you go go. It also saw me don a charity shop dress, black wig and dress up in front of 1000 people to become Susan Boyle and mime, 'I dreamed a deam' . Moritfying, but brilliant all at once.

3. Breakfast At Tiffany's- (well, Boltons) After a particularly horrific return for Fresher's week, the next morning, i skipped out of the house where I used to live, called two of the girls and went to a particularly grimy bar and ordered the best Full English my mouth has ever had the pleasure of placing host to. The abuse and banter was as full as my stomach, and I've realised you can only truly be best friends with people you can call a 'cuntsquidge' and laugh about it.

4. Going to the Chapel and We're Gonna Get Married, one of my best friends from home, got engaged this Christmas, and I literally couldn't be happier for her, she's been with him for six and a half years, and he is literally perfect for her. She's going to make a beautiful bride, and an incredible wife. You can also count on me to push the rest of the women out my way to catch the bouqet. Bitch pleaseeeeee!
                 Tumblr_ls3l4egglt1qmoba3o1_500_large

5. David Tennant
may literally be the love of my life. So when mumma p suprised me with tickets to see him in Much Ado About Nothing with Catherine Tate this summer, i pretty much creamed myself. I also met the gorgeous man after, when i hung around the stage door like a desperate crazy stalker (which i am) got a signed copy of the play and a cheeky hug and picture. Then my blackberry got stolen and i lost all photographic evidence of it. That month i also went to see Take That's Progress tour. AMAZING.

Resolution 4- Meet Olly Murs/Harry Styles/Dougie Poynter and make them realise they want to marry me....Hey, I'm allowed one ridiculous one surely?

REASONS TO LOOK FORWARD TO 2012
1. Ed Sheeran 20th January- with my best friend in the entire world
2. New York 11-17th February
3. Ron Pope 20th February with the Eastbourne girls
4. Summer holiday
5. Em's wedding

where

so 2012, hit me with your best shot. Bring. It. On. I'm ready for you.

Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time

As previously stated I'm not a fan of the commercialised advent season, but this year, I got sucked in by the Michael Buble Christmas CD and the decorating of the house. It's been a bit of a different Christmas this year. It was the first with my brother for 5 years and the first without my Grandmother since she passed away last Christmas time.  But it was actually, lovely, we raised our glasses in hope for 2012, for the love we are blessed to know, and to the memory of a woman who played a huge part in our lives. I was thoroughly spoilt, but best of all I was around ALL the people I love most.

New Years is looking up, on Thursday I'm going down to Brighton for a couple of days to see two of my best friends from uni, drink wine, go dancing, and order pizza when the inevitable hangover occurs. On New Years Day I'm going to Winter Wonderland to see one of my favourite people in the entire world,a girl I met whilst working in a New York summer camp and subsequentially travelled America with when it ended. I haven't seen her in two years due to us living as literally opposite ends of the country, but I'm so excited I might do a little wee.

Christmas Kisses lipstick...surely this means one thing..
So really, all I need is this: the following men to meet me under the mistletoe

1. David Tennant
2. Robert Sheehan
3. Zac Efron
4. Jake Gyllenhaal
5.Robert Pattinson
6. Dougie Poynter
7. Olly Murs

so Father Christmas, I know you've probs only just settled down  on the sofa with Mrs. Claus and a cup of tea, but if you could make that happen, I promise to stay on the Nice list for 2012.

Merry Christmas you arse, I pray God, it's your last.

Tumblr_ld74h3jn791qcilypo1_400_large

                        I don' t like Christmas.

There, I got your attention. But in all seriousness, I've never been a fan of the lights which dominate the front of houses to the point where they resemble Blackpool Illuminations. I don't enjoy Christmas shopping and I bloody hate Turkey. Tis the season to be jolly? How about you go wipe your arse with a sprig of holly and see how jolly you are then.

For me, Christmas is a fake holiday. I'm not knocking the birth of Christ, in fact i'm pretty fond of the fella, but instead, with all it's commercialism and distaste, I think we've genuinely forgotten what real happiness feels like at this time of year. Instead, we place the responsibilty of us smiling, to the Coca- Cola adverts, and the chocolate underneath each new door on our advent calender. I'm not going to judge because I get sucked in too, decorating the tree excites me and whenever I hear the immortal words of Slade ' ITTT'SSSS CHRRRISSSTTMASSSS' my ears prick.  I mean I'm not that emotionally stunted. But honestly where was this turning point? How did we become so broken and false at this time of year and since when did having the latest iPad, Louboutins or Jack Wills gilet consume our need to spend time with family or friends?

Maybe its just me.

Last Year on Christmas Eve I was asked to be a Godmother, and thus I wrote a blog naming 2011 as the Year of Responsibility. I vowed to drink sensibly, find a nice boyfriend, and stop using The OC and One Tree Hill as procrastination tools. In some people's opinion I was successful, I graduated university with a first, landed a job  I love, and stopped straightening my hair everyday. But I also made some huge mistakes which have changed a lot of things. Things that can't be undone or taken back. Things I most definitely regret to the point where I've questioned myself.

So for this Christmas, I'm going to surround myself with the people I love the most, and be thankful for what I do have. As for 2012, it's the Year of No Name, the pressure's off, and hopefully I can try to fix some things.

Thinking about it though, I'm lucky. I've got a family who love me even though I'm ginger, and friends who can make me laugh until I can't breathe. I've also got a Godson who told his Daddy to 'MAN UP' at 18 months old..

So with no sarcasm intended, Merry fucking Christmas.

Everybody Dies, But Not Everybody Lives.

The Ten Commandments were proclaimed by God as a set of principles and rules, regarding moral and ethical standing in otherwise flawed human beings. They set out to provide guidance and a code of conduct for millions around the world, religious and non religious alike over thousands of years; because let's be honest, 'thou shalt not murder' is a pretty obvious one right?

But in this society, where popularity is decided by numbers on a scale, by clothes worn, and music listened to, perhaps an alternative vision of the Commandments is exactly what is needed. It's harder than ever to be a woman in the 21st Century; salaries still aren't completely equal between the sexes, a female football referee was humilated and even jokes about women belonging in the kitchen have lost their humour because now most top chefs are men. Women of today are downtrodden, their self esteem is in shatters because of the expectations they are limited by. This new set of updated and relevant commandments ones which I try to live by, it doesn't mean they'll work for you, but here it goes.

1. Thou Shalt be graceful
Be graceful in your achievements, do not boast, be quietly proud, there is no need to scream them from the rooftops. Show humility around anybody you meet, but in particular around your friends and family, you are lucky to have them, let them know it. Say please, and thankyou. I love you doesn't go amiss either.
2.Thou shalt push yourself
Being content is admirable, being happy is desired, being comfortable is exactly that, comfortable. We are put on this earth for reasons unknown even to us. One thing, however we can be sure of, is that amongst other things is that as human beings, we grow. Never allow yourself to be in a position where you're not growing as an inidivudal. Progress is essential, always strive for more, to be better, but ensure you strive for things that will make you smile. Aspire not to have more, but to be more.
3. Thou shalt forgive quickly.
Fear, anger and self loathing are powerful emotions which often are shrouded behind viscous words, unkind actions or looks which could kill. Forgive quickly and remember that not everybody is trying to upset you on purpose, their worst enemy is most likely their own reflection. Anger is unbecoming,, it signals a lack of self discipline and disregard for the other person or people involved. Forgive before the sun goes down, and the sunrise will be brighter. Much like my ginger hair.
4. Thou shalt not dismiss your childish ways
Children have no worries, they go up to others and make friends in five seconds. They say what they feel with no second thought, cry when they need to and laugh at anything which makes them smile. Live your life the same, life is stressful enough as it is.
5. Thou shalt not be afraid
Be yourself, and show people that  you care, whether it something in your professional or personal life, passion is not something to be feared. (Unless your passion in life is Adrian Chiles, or Piers Morgan) It is not a weakness to admit defeat, nor is it to expect better from yourself and others. Do not be afraid to speak your mind. On a more frivilous note, do not be afraid to laugh at yourself, to do something a little stupid, or treat yourself to a new dress or pair of shoes. The world will not stop turning, it will spin madly on.
6. Thou shall dream a little bigger
We wish upon stars, on birthday candles, on a certain amount of magpies, for our hearts deepest desires. Growing up we dream of being firefighters, astronauts, chefs, fairies, princesses and more. Why should that ever cease? It is not going to make you less respectable, less loved, or a lesser person to have a dream which may seem unobtainable, or that others may regard as ridiculous. It's a dream for a reason, chase them. Dreams are not as ephemeral as a butterfly, they can adapt, change or grow into something we never thought possible.
7. Thou shalt not be jealous
This is easier said than done, but jealously is the garden weed of all emotions, it drags you down, it strangles and suffocates any positive. Looking at someone who is always wanting more, who is so deeply unsatisfied with themselves and their own life is not an attractive quality in anybody. Wanting someone else's relationship, their lifestyle, their money or in my case, their hair, will NOT change what YOU have. It'll only feed off  the feeling of wishing to be somebody else, it;s corrosive and damaging. However, at least it's reliable, you always know what to expect.

8.Thou shall take time for yourself ( but do not forget your friends)
It's not a crime to need space, to ask for some time alone, or to enjoy your own company. Sometimes, you need  to be by yourself in order to move forward and be the best friend you can be. Relishing your own company is a sign of inner strength, it allows you to reflect on your day, accomplisments, failures and plans for the future. Sometimes the best days, are spent in bed, watching t.v/reading a book and painting your nails, because otherwise you wouldn't have time.
9. Thou shalt not live your life on other people's terms.
Have the strength of character to fight for what you believe to be right. Have conviction in your actions, and stand up for yourself. You make decisions based on what is best for you, not your friends and family. There of course, is no need to disregard their opinions, but ultimately it's your life and not theirs. They do not know the darkest corners of your mind, not the depths of your heart. Do what is best for you, stay humble and do not compare your lives with others.
10. Thou shalt believe in magic and not be cynical about love.
“Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you, because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places.”
—Roald Dahl

Love is perrenial,  it is independent of country of origin, of race, religion or creed. It is a universal truth, which speaks louder than anything other in the world. It is louder than the pressure to be perfect, your nightmares, and your insecurities . Love who you choose, do not be bound by the perceptions of others or fear of rejection. Take every opportunity it brings, it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Love is the last remaining magic we have. Do not be cynical, believe and wish for it with all your heart.

Whatever it takes, tell me you'll stay

Who you are is who you are. We're liars. We're thieves. We're addicts. We take our happiness for granted until we hurt ourselves or someone else. We hold grudges. And when faced with our mistakes, we reinvent the past. We reinvent ourselves. At least we try. We're prideful, and we're lustful, and we're incredibly flawed. And eventually, our flaws catch up to us.
Dan Scott- One Tree Hill

When my brother moved out, I didn't mourn or wave him off in a blur of tears. Instead I thought practically as any girl would; I immediately began re-inventing his (much bigger) room. I haven't moved in yet, but it's got Cath Kidston wallpaper,a colour coded wardrobe, and a vintage Victorian nursing chair. Sorry bro, the issues, of FHM stored not -so- secretly by your bedside had to go, I'm afraid tits and tips on metrosexuality weren't for me.

Reinvention is a funny thing. It usually comes after a break up, you cut your hair, invest in a gym membership or become best friends with Jack Daniels. It signals a phase in your life where things are going to change, be better, and allow you to breathe a little easier. It's hailed as this healthy self cleansing routine which will bring a new sense of perspective. But I've always wondered how cutting off 6 inches of your hair, or adding them in a pair of inappropriately high heels will change anything.

Don't get me wrong, I've done it all. In an attempt to change myself I've got new piercings, hair, clothes or furniture that I didn't need, but thought I wanted. I've tried to be more positive, kept a diary, and took up helping little old ladies across the road, and yes, it helped. It helped in an ephemeral kind of way, fleeting and the feeling of smug happiness was almost expected.
I then got a kind of survivor's guilt. Not the kind where you survive a tragic and fatal accident and you feel remorse over those who didn't. But the kind where I'd spent most of my wages on a shit haircut and shoes I couldn’t walk in kind of way.

So why do we feel the need to reinvent ourselves? It promises to be a life saver, something to keep you from going insane and to boost your self esteem. However, what it doesn't advertise is that it won't take the pain away. It just masks and shrouds the feelings that you were trying to escape from in the first place. And like a Kitty Brucknell of Xfactor 'fame', they're the cockroach that won't die. (Probably less annoying than her though, let's face it)
Before you know it, that family sized Milky Bar is looking all too attractive, and you're back to square one, left in a small dark space of self doubt and misery.

You are who you are. Don't try to change it, you're that person for a reason, those traits are yours, and yours alone. You are unique. There are over 6 BILLION souls on this Earth, and only ONE of you. You have a right to be here. As yourself.
 Embrace it.
Breathe.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy

Because you, are my sundown.

In light of my recent blogpost about the immensity of music, and it's ability to give voice to the swells we feel, I decided to venture a little further, and fully explain some of my favourite lyrics, and the stories behind them; memories made, and smiles painted or tears cried. There is a reason I name each blogpost with a song lyric.
I urge you, if you haven't already, to listen.

1. Coldplay- Fix You
'Tears stream down your face when you lose something you cannot replace, I promise you I will love you for my mistakes. Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones and I will try to fix you.'
In 2006, a friend of mine passed away, on a day we were raising money for  Teenage Cancer Trust. This song was the first song on my ipod shuffle that day, the lyrics are ridiculously on point. Everybody needed fixing, staff and pupils alike,  he was irreplaceable, and people have never really come back from it. Chris Martin's voice  is haunting, and perfect. And on this occasion, so fitting.

2. Mozella- Light Years Away
' It's almost like you had it planned, like you smiled and shook my hand, and said hey I'm about to screw you over big time.'

Every Monday, During my years in 6th Form, two of my best friends and I would sack off the last period of the day, buy a family sized bottle of fullfat coke, grab some  Thai Sweet Chilli crisps and for an hour become emotionally attached to the point of an unhealthy obsession and watch One Tree Hill. We can still quote entire scenes to each other and frequently stream episodes in the background when having a catch up. This song reminds me of being young and having no responsibilites. It also reminds me when I could afford to eat that much crap without needing to go to the gym. Bloody metabolism.

3. Howie Day- Collide
'I finally find, you and I, collide'
On my Last day of 6th Form,  everyone in my year, sat in the sun ( me with my factor 30) , on the field, and one of the guys stole a year 7's guitar from the music studio and whacked out a beaut of a song. This was it. It didn't matter what clique you were part of, everyone was leaving, people with personal differences set them aside and everyone was just chill. Perfect.
4 The Killers- Mr Brightside' Jealousy, turning saints into the sea, turning through sick lullabies, choking on your alibis'

This song just screams uni to me, every night without fail at some point, this was played. I hold many a fond memory of drunken hazes, insane smiles, and jumping up and down like a teenager minus mine or in hold of additional fancy dress items.  Other songs which recieve and honourable mention, include: Katy Perry-Hot and Cold , dedicated to Cheerleading socials, and  Journey's Dont Stop Believing. Brighton Uni 2008-2011, you gave me the best three years. Thank you.
5. Gavin De Graw Meaning-' Love has a reason there’s a meaning to the world, we’re given love'
Aged 15, my mother stupidly thought I was responsible enough to go to London by myself with a group of friends to a gig. ( I say stupidly, because I'm nearly 22 and the tube still confuses me. Largely. Embarrassingly so, in fact. so HONESTLY, aged 15 i didn't stand a  chance) I was front row,  i met Gavin De Graw, i got a signed tshirt. Best Night Ever. I also had to carry my paraletic best friend on to the underground, pretend the esclator was an Inter House competition to get her to race me and run up them. I also missed the last train home.  The next one was in 5 hours. So what did a group of drunken and elated teenagers do?  Go and sleep on Clapaham Junction station for 2 hours until the first train to the nearest stop to Guildford arrived. Personal Safety at it's finest. My personal safety was not fine however when my mum found out about the 'cancelled' train the next morning. Grounded. ( still got the tshirt though, and a tweet from the man himself on my 21st birthday last year. Who got the last laugh there then Mother..)

6. Snow Patrol- Headlights on a Dark Highway'For Once i want to be the car crash, not always the traffic jam.'
Writing my dissertation at 2am one night I decided to make the Ultimate playlist, to work alongside the copious amounts of tea, Ben and Jerrys, and Riveta that was keeping me sane. ( I was trying to be good..) Snow Patrol's lyrics are always amazing, they completely capture the nature of music, the neccessity of a generation's emotional capabilities to immerse themselves in a song and believe it completely tells their story. It's not one of their best known songs, but one of my favourites. That lyric in particular was such a recognizable peice of writing for me, at the time I lived in the library, was surgically attached to my laptop  reading journals, chasing interviewees and trying to sound vaguely intelligent. I felt like I was wasting my last year, that I needed to get back into the living my last few weeks of uni instead of living vicariously though other peopl's drunken status and photo updates on Facebook. That week I went out 4 times. Sensible? No. Worth it? Def.
7. Blink 182- What's My Age Again? 'We started making out, then she took off her pants; then, I turned on the T.V; that's about the time she walked away from me'
At a time where money was free ( my then recently extended overdraft) I brought one of my best friend tickets to Reading Festival. We dressed up as leopards, in full body paint got four marriage proposals had about 120 photos taken with strangers and were drunk before we even got there. It was the weekend of the infamous binbag cave, i fainted in the front row of paramore, and had to be carried out of the crowd ( who were not best pleased) and had to experience wee-ing outside. I had blisters for literally 3 weeks from my wellies, probable hypothermia from sleeping at the train station and a disposable camera full of memories. Blink 182 headlined the Saturday and my little teenage fan girl days came flooding back. Except this time i was drunk with a group of my new best friends ( people I'd met 20 seconds before) and stood in a field of thousands instead of me in my room singing into an afrocomb...

8. One Direction- What Makes You Beautiful'The way you flip your hair gets me overwhelmed'
This summer to clear my somewhat ridiculous overdraft I worked in Shakeaway. I say worked, i made milkshakes, created ridiculous dance routines to songs, and flirted with teenage boys to get them to add extra flavours to their shakes. I have no morals or shame. I'm not even going to pretend  I don't like One Direction- i bloody love the little scamps. What makes you beautiful played on that stupidly hot day, where we made over 380 milkshakes in 5 hours. But the thing was, surrounded by the people i was working with and having this blasting, I didn't even notice how tired I was. Customers and the other staff were wetting themselves as I jugged milk complete with a dance routine and hairflicks.

9. Ron Pope- You're the reason I come home
You're the reason that when everything I know falls apart...Well, you're the reason I come home.
Ron Pope is literally one of, if not, my favourite singer songwriters of all time. check him out on twitter @RonPopeMusic, listen on Youtube and fall in love with his lyrics. I've had many a road trip with friends where he's been the soundtrack. I'm seeing him with two of the girls next year when his only London show is played. We will wail with our attempt to sing, but I literally cannot wait. His lyrics are insane and his voice is archaic, never tires, but effortlessly beautiful and captivating. His songs are incredible and he's a genuinely lovely guy too. check him out or you literally will not know what you're missing out on.

10. Mumford and Sons- After the StormAnd there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.

Because really, doesn't this lyric captivate everything we hope with all our heart for?

Music is everything.

Believe in it's ability to heal, inspire, sympathise, and speak for you. It has an uncanny  talent for giving you exactly what you need at that particular time.

Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want, everything you want. Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true. You never know where the next miracle is going to come from. The next smile, the next wish come true. But if you believe that it's right around the corner, and you open up your heart and mind to the possibility of it, to the certainty of it, you just might get the thing you're wishing for. The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it. So make your wish. Do you have it? Good. Now believe in it, with all of your heart." - One Tree Hill
